Welcome to the official site of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science of the Belarusian State University!
Our Faculty was founded in 1970 as the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and was renamed as the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in 1991. Till 1970, there were three departments of mathematics at the Belarusian State University: Department of Computational Mathematics, Department of Applied Mathematics, and Department of Differential Equations. Having combined efforts, the members of these three departments created a new faculty – The Faculty of Applied Mathematics which now functions as a center of excellence for the development of applied mathematics and for advanced research in computer science and related fields. Nowadays the Faculty includes twelve departments, nine research and seven educational laboratories which are very actively involved in scientific investigations in many exciting areas within applied mathematics, computer science and software engineering.
In today’s competitive world, our main goal is to prepare students for a wide variety of careers, equipping them with the advanced skills for academic and professional success. The Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science offers five-year undergraduate programs that are professionally-oriented, based on a strong foundation in the applied mathematics and theoretical computer science. Also the Faculty offers graduate programs that lead to Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in many areas of applied science.
Without any doubt, a qualification at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in applied mathematics, computer science, economical cybernetics, actuarial mathematics, or computer security can open many doors for the faculty’s graduates. Both in Belarus and abroad, our former students are using their knowledge to assume leadership roles in leading IT companies, research institutes, and modern industrial organizations.
We welcome all of our potential new students, and look forward to seeing them complete their studies and go on to future success in their careers.
